Performance of the DBS Satellite Receiver under the Impact of Rainfall and Terrestrial Interference

This article presents a new study on the feasibility of operating direct broadcasting satellite (DBS) system under effect both precipitation and interference from fixed service (FS) at K-band in semiarid region. The carrier-to-noise plus ratio (CNIR) as protection criterion has been adopted to make sure that receiver DBS operates with an acceptable performance rainfall FS. Various measured data for different areas have utilized investigate rain rate exceedance percentages. Results shown high rates small CNIR require large distances compared low-rain vice versa. Some mitigation techniques suggested alleviate terrestrial performance.
